View South from Bob Creek

This painting had its beginnings live onsite at Bob Creek near Yachats, on the Oregon Coast. I developed the central focal area, and began working outward from there. I liked the mood of it and decided to leave the outer area undeveloped and just let the underpainting create a sort of vignette, focused on the atmospheric distance of the jutting headlands. One solo figure gives a sense of the scale of these great cliffs.
