Sun Bunch

I spied this fresh bunch of sunflowers at our favorite farm stand, and immediately envisioned this painting. Back in the studio I painted them in oils from a live still life set up, with the fabric of a favorite blue sundress as the backdrop. There are bits of bright red color poking through from the red gesso I used to prepare the canvas. The vivid color contrast is delightfully cheerful.
